Digital Transformation and changing role of PM

Updated: Oct 5, 2019

We are witnessing that digital transformations are challenging and changing the role of the project manager and the program management – in big ways.

Project Managers of Digital transformation initiatives are going to be strategic leaders of their organizations. They are using and adapting different ways and methodologies. We may find them to be agnostic how actually projects should be delivered, because they’re focused on delivering the outcomes that their organizations are trying to achieve in the marketplace.

A lot of traditional responsibilities of the project manager can actually now be taken over by technology. Consider tasks like scheduling and planning, and other activities which can be done by software or technology. Instead he or she are actually spending more time thinking how to get the business alignment of the project - which is very critical for success of any transformative initiative and more so for digital transformations.
